I can understand that if I want to listen to MP3s off of the GPS that I would have to do that..... but do I need that for just spoken commands interrupting the radio or CD player?
And how does the signal get from the GPS to the NIM? Bluetooth? Magic?

8. If the Zumo is not intended to be used as an audio device
(MP3 or XM) then the audio Y-harness cable is not
required. Skip Steps 9 through 14, and connect the single
pin connector on the NIM module directly to the "AUDIOOUT" socket connector coming from the Zumo mount.
If the Zumo will be used as an audio device, proceed to
Step 9.
