A few years back I painted my bike (which I sold a while back) with Pewter Denim that I got here http://www.colorrite.com/ I took my time and did all the prep work. A few days later it was done and turned out great. It's an 03 model that looked much newer after the paint job. Denim is real easy to care for too. I know it's not a RK but it gives you a good idea of how doing it yourself would turn out.
I have a black denim SB, but I really think the silver denim is better looking.
I'm thinking of doing a repaint of my bike, in a CVO Screamin Eagle style scheme, here's the kicker, it will be Denim Black/Denim Sedona Orange with Denim Pewter stripes with chrome HD tank badges...What do you think about that?
Thanks guys im gonna do denim. Funny you said black v&h duals Tek i have a set i bought for a project i never used that are gonna make it on this bike.
Good deal man. I can't wait to see the finished project. If you decide to do a Black air cleaner (instead of chrome), be sure to go with matching Denim instead of Gloss Black. I've see many guns run the gloss black Screamin Eagle a/c with their Denim bikes, and it just don't look right to me. I know that V&H offers a denim a/c, but not sure who else does.
Guess I shoulda read what I wrote meant to say denim black with denim yellow in middle and emblem
That would look good, maybe add a thin Denim pewrter/silver stripe to highlight it. Only problem with the 50's style tank badges is they were screwed onto the tank, and would have the small chamfered holes in the emblems. But there may be a work around to that!
Love the flame job, the black looks to have a little more gloss than Denim Black. Always thought the Denim was little too flat looking. Just my 2 cents.
