i've gotta agree with tinman here. according to the 2010 owners manual, the neck bearings aren't due for adjustment until 25,000 miles, but if you're dealer says they are a 10k adjustment, then it should be included in their 10k price.
In regards to the earlier 'you got hosed' statement, the adjustment was free. I would agree I 'almost' got hosed and obviously anybody that doesn't do their own maintenance accepts that you get a pretty good hosing for the regular service maintenance cost.
As far as above, what I had intended to do was not get in a pissing match with the service writer. I was going to pay the bill and then go discuss it with the GM who knows me well. If after hearing my concern he chose to leave the bill as it was that would have been fine, however he would have been told that would be the last service/purchase i would make there. We have multiple dealers to chose from locally. This ended up not being an issue because the other service writer (Brian) did the right thing.
I will say that I didn't realize the adjustment is shown as a 25k adjustment. That being the case, next time I'm in there I am going to ask him why she informed me it was a routine 10k adjustment.

probably the same reason that my dealership says that oil changes are a 2500 mile thing....
If you have enough grease in the bearing...there will be no "settling in"....settling in means WEAR....if the ***** have wear on them, they are shot and need replacement. If you are being told that....then that means that the factory is laving the front ends too loose, causing premature wear.
2-3 pumps with a grease gun and give the nut about 1/4-1/2 turn and that's good enough.
I looked at the service manual to check and here are hd's recomendations:
Lube at 1k, 10k, 20k, 30k, 40k
Adjust at 25k
disassemble, inspect, and lube at 50k
As for the comment about adjustment at 10k...... it's not the first time I have heard for someone at a HD dealership saying something they know nothing about......
I guess I willl have to check and adjust mine at my 5k service to make sure it's good after hearing all of these needing adjustment.
