I love the look of the Road King's Classic Bags, but didn't like the lack of security. So I installed the HD Saddlebag Lock kit. Threaded rivets and screws are used to secure the steel hardware to the bag. I had LSHD key the locks to my bike, so I don't have an additional key to carry around. As with most locks, they only keep honest people honest, but all in all I'm happy with the setup.
How is that mechanism attached to the lid? Are there screws that go through the lid?
Using a 3/16" drill bit you drill out the 4 rivets that hold the straps to the lid. You then drill out the holes with a 7/32" bit and insert the rivets into the holes from the outside of the bag lid. On the inside of the bag lid you place the straps over the rivets and then place the steel mechanism over the straps and screw them into the rivets. The bottom mechanism attaches the same way.
Thanks for the pics. I hadn't seen the HD version of locks for the RKC bags, only the Iniertia wrx. Do you feel these work well? Does it lock without any fiddling with alignment and such?
I bought the kit from Lake Shore Harley for $189.00

The locking mechanism works just fine. No fiddling or special alignment needed to get it to lock. Quite nice.
Nice job!
I too, put the lock kit on my RK Classic. I posted a how to with lots of pics back in 06.
I looked for the old post, but I guess its gone now. Was gonna put a link in your post to help others out.
