I would like to hear opinions from those that have 4 inch Rineharts (or similar aftermarket slipons) and the Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 air cleaner (or similar aftermarket AC) and the XiED from Nightrider... Is it a good combination?
I've read a few opinions on this... I know a lot of folks say you have to have a tuner... But I'd like to hear real-world opinions of doing this without a tuner.
You absolutely do not need a tuner. A stock bike or a bike with pipes and A/C only needs XIED's. Lots of guys on here running lots of different combos of pipes and A/C with XIED's. I ran them for a year with a couple different combo's of pipes. I only put on a power commander a few weeks ago because I'm installing cams in a couple weeks.
Unless you're going to do cams and/or heads, save your money. You don't need a tuner.
Having said that, I bought my Power Commander III off eBay, complete in the original packaging for $75. Works great.
I can only tell you what Nightrider told me. He said his XIED's would work with an airkit and exhaust, as long as it wasn't a 2 into 1 pipe, because of the scavaging effect.
I ran a set of XIEDs on my stock bike for 2 yrs, just to overcome the factory lean condtion.
I have the set sitting in my toolbox, I'll sell for 50. You will need to call him and ask if ones for an 08FLH will work on your model year
Im running an VIED (adjustable unit), with 3.5" Jackpots, stock airbox with a K&N with the Cat removed and its taken care of any lean condition I might have. I do not plan on doing anything else other than possibly going to a diff set of slip- ons eventually.
