Hey Guys,
New member here. I bought a 07 street glide and have been working on it alot. I found a set of paul yaffe monkey bars, 12" with everything needed to install. They are a used set. Everything is there for the install including wiring, cabels and even the instructions and paperwork. I paid 360 for the lot. I was wondering how you guys like these bars, any problems wiring them?
Also curious about solid vs. rubber handlebar mounts. Everyone I talk to says to make sure not to get a rubber mount with apes. Thanks for the help
While your in there, May as well change out the sock riser bushings for the polyurethane ones. They are not much money, and it does help with the bar shake.
as steelerdude said, polyurethane bushings and also the one-piece top clamp...keeps the bars square.
as they said nice choice..only problem is they have exploded in popularity!! Which is a good thing if you are Mr. Yaffe... take your time installing and you should have no problem.
You got a deal on your bars. If you got stainless cables and brake lines, you got a smoking deal.
I just installed a set of 12" Monkey bars on my Road King. Bars, cables, wiring extensions, riser bushings and top clamp came to about 600 bucks, all in. And I shopped for deals on my cables, got all braided stainless clutch and throttle cables and brake lines for about 175 bucks. Guys who send their bikes in to the shop for this are paying over a grand with parts and labor.
Long story short, bought the bike, brought it home and took it around the block. My best friend, who has been ridding for over 10 years, took it down the street, took a left and laid it down. So we have been "bargain" shopping for parts. Im on ebay non-stop all day, and didnt find these bars till there was 12 hours left. He had them listed under paul yaffe instead of harley, and did not have a model it listed in the title, but it said it fit on a 06 street glide. Started at 350, only 88 views at the end of the auction, and with ten seconds left i slipped in for the steal.
Got all the parts now, and am sending the bike out for paint, and as i rebuild the front end, i want to do all the little things, the bars are a bonus! Thinking of speakers and a amp.
Good deal. Sorry to hear about the bike going down. I installed prime apes not too long ago and I did a write up on install here.
Hope it can help with your install. Good luck, and post up some pics when your done so we can check it out.
