Yes, take it back. If you like the seat otherwise, ask for an acceptable replacement, but you should really question the quality control at the HD supplier. Were it me I would just get the refund and get a seat from one the manufactuers that some of the other members suggested in this thread. Why keep going to the same source when they see fit to deliver shoddy qulity at a premium price?

That is a fine example of cheap outsourcing. I bought from one of the online discounters, and went through three Sundowners with **** poor stitching before I finally gave up, sent the last one back and got my money back. The whole ordeal took almost three months. I found a dealerhip that had one in stock, pulled it, inspected it, the stitching was perfect so I bought it, well worth full price to get one right. I was assured there is no such thing as fatory "seconds" but I'm convinced there is such a thing as sh!tty QA/QC. Buying a HD brand seat, thoroughly inspect it before you pay for it.

lionsm13 is right...this may be all they will do for you. But I don't think they will give you the $$$ personally...so let them (HD) take the seat to whoever they use for that kind of stuff and restretch the cover properly. This is a piece of cake job for an upolstery guy and should only take a day, or two to get it there and back! The seat (as it is now) is clearly not correct or acceptable! Don't waste your time with the parts guy...speak to the GM! If they don't want to do this tell them to order you another seat...and leave the bad one there! If you use it while you are waiting for a new one and something goes wrong...your case will be weakened by the fact you were okay with it during the interim period.

What a mess...

Steve

Did you buy that new It looks used? If you walked out with it looking like that they may not believe thats the same seat? I wonder if someone returned a used seat cuz thats not a new seat.

Brutal! Return it, I agree that it looks like a "second". I haven't seen one like that before sold as new.

Thought I would bring you guys up to speed. I did bring it back, no problem on exchanging it due to poor workmanship. New one came in yesterday, just as bad, didn't leave the store with it. Full refund, no questions asked. I had already did a bit of research, Mustang looks like they got me covered. I called the factory, spoke to a salesperson regarding my concerns reference fit, no problem if I buy it direct. Asked about having one at Daytona, unlikely as the Custom isn't as popular as the other touring models.... So in the end; I couldn't get the 17% discount Biker Trends offered, but I did get 10% off and no restock if I don't like it and it will be here in time for the 2-1/2 hour ride to Daytona next weekend.
