Default Ordered My Ohlins today !

Sent my check to Howard today. can't wait to get the shocks in. I ordered the
3-3's per Howard's recommendation for my riding style. question for those of you who have installed these did you leave Howard's settings intact or did you have to tweak the preload and damping once you got them installed.

The instructions he sends out for setting up the shocks looks like a daunting process to those of us who are not racers. I'm not sure I would even notice subtle differences in damping and rebound adjustments since I am so used to the crappy riding factory shocks.

I can't wait to get them on though and see what a difference they make.

Installation of my #3-3s proved straight-forward, using the spacers to make sure the shocks are not under any strain when tightening the bolts up. Ohlins are made to metric sizes and Howard supplies sleeves to fit inside the eyelets to adapt them to our shock bolts.

Next job is setting sag, which is also important, as that ensures the ride height is correct when you are sitting on your bike. I had to adjust mine quite a bit to get them right, but that is valuable learning time. Having done that, just go for a ride and enjoy!

I set my sag which took a while because new they are stiff and I couldn't get enough sag in them , after so break in miles they softened up and I set the correct sag and continued to play with the sweep value , I finally got what I thought was the best ride I ever had on a bike and then one day I adjusted some more for the hell of it and it got even better , these things are amazing

I also just ordered the #3-3 from Howard. Howard's wealth of knowledge on these is amazing. I am looking forward to seeing what real shocks feel like on the Electra Glide. Front end will be next. Waiting to see what Howard is cooking up!

Ordered mine about a week ago. Howard is great at communication and letting me know that my shocks should be at his place on Monday or Tuesday! Getting the #3-3 and really looking forward to it! So tired of being beat to death with the stock air shocks!! Tried some 12" SG shocks a couple years ago and they were terrible!! Went right back t the 13"s. Going on a little trip in April and looking forward to the Ohlins!!

Just took my bike for its first ride yesterday with the new ohlins, #3-4's. I did the initial sag adjustment and Howard said ride it for 50 miles and then reset the sag. I haven't even started to dial them in yet and they are way better than the stock setup. Can't wait to get some more miles on them and get the dialed in.

Talked to Howard for about an hour and I'm sold. Going to order the #6.

Just take your time during the adjustment process. Make notes as you make adjustments, this is important. I still refer to my notes when I decide to make micro adjustments from time to time. Adjusting for proper rider sag is one of the most important steps, if not the most important. Getting this right makes all the difference. Enjoy.
