Might as well put my $.02 in here as well. Why? Oh, just to throw another option your way and because I think Redline is the best. Yep, I could be wrong, but as of right now I don't think so.

HD 20w/50, with HD filter. The HD filter has the lowest micron rating going. HD Formula + in primary and tranny. See no reason for the synthetic route. My oil is changed out every 2500 and the primary and tranny every year. Dino has worked for me for over 30 years without fail. Can't see pissin out the $$ for a long range synthetic if the oil filter can't go more than 3k.
I've heard many before tell me how good Amsoil products are and it looks like it's confirmed here to so I'll make the switch. I'll run the HD filter till the warranty runs out. I'm sure this subject has been run into the ground so I'll thank those of you for your input..

Amsoil 20w50 and a Harley filter. My local auto parts store has all the different types of Amsoil, and they deliver to my shop.
I always change oil a little earlier than recommeded (makes me feel better) and the Harley filter is not that expensive.
I prefer Wix filters for all automotive apps , but the flow rate and micron rate for the Harleys are a bit funny.
I haven't seen any other filter that matches it "spec for spec".
My bike is still in warantee , so I like to "hedge my bets" by having the Harley filter on there in case of a later dispute.
JMHO.......

I wish this oil had been a part of this study. I was surprised to see how some oils that I had heard were excellent such as Royal Purple & Lucas didn't fair so well on some of the tests.

I finally found a local supplier for Amsoil. I have been using Mobil 1 in the engine. I checked the Amsoil website and they recommend their 20W50 in all three holes. I just changed the oil last month so for now it's Amsoil in the gearbox and primary. But the Mobile 1 V-TWIN 20W50 is an excellent oil for the engine as well.
I dont know about you guys but, when I,m home at 2500 miles between oil changes is a waste, especially at 300 miles a day. I took mine back for it,s first oil change after 6 days when new and the dealer said he had a bike in for it,s 2500 and it was 2 years old!!!
Ran into a retired biker yesterday with 105k on his current bike. He sold his last bike with 250k--still running fine. Naturally, my first question was about oil. Mobil1 20w50 was the answer.
By the way, the guy sold his 4 wheeler. The bike is his only transportation. If he was lying, he has a future in politics.
