Wheel spacers

Wheel spacers
Was in the process of putting my front wheel back on the bike. I have the wheel spacers mixed up. Looked at the manual and no help there they both look the same. Which side does the larger notched spacer go on and which direction should the notch be. I have an 04 flht for reference.
Thanks

Left side of bike while sitting on it is .968 wide and part number 43520-00a and the right side part number is 43521-00a and is .886 wide.
Hope this helps. for future refernce I used http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc
to find your part numbers and then did a search for those part numbers in google and viola!

Yes, I know it's an old thread. However, I'm kinda fascinated by this subject, having an 04 RK myself.
Look at those listed widths of the spacers up there above.
.968 and .886
Now look at these listed widths for the same part numbers:
https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/colon...-43521-00.html
.970 and .885
And these:
https://www.harley-davidsonforums.co...-chart.298554/
.970 and .890
That's different widths for the same part numbers. Great. The oem part is no longer available btw.
So you're going to be deflecting the fork tubes out of parallel, creating drag and wear. And perhaps changing the wheel offset with these different sizes.
And what about mine? Mine are chrome replacements, and they are identical width, with no wheel offset at all. So there's a fourth variant!
Now my front wheel seems to sits quite nicely centered, with the brake rotors centered between the brake caliper halves. So why on earth is there an offset on the original setup?
Further, if the front wheel truly is offset from the center axis of the triple tree pivot, that seems a dandy way to set up some unequal forces when rolling along. At the least, imparting at the least a tendency to turn. At the worse, it could set up oscillation, much like the front wheel of a shopping cart.
Just ruminating, and curious what others have seen, know or speculate.

First, look at those differences in spacer dimensions you state above ...
.002" Max between any Left Spacers
.005" Max between any Right Spacers
.006" Max between any Sets of Spacers
That is "Nothing" to be concerned about ... especially after I give you some Homework on the "Offset"
Do you have a FSM for your 2004? ... Look under the Front Wheel Subject (Chassis Section 2) and Aligning the Right Slider (wheel) ... Hmm

I have a unique issue with my rear wheel spacers on my 01 Electra Glide Classic. I purchased a wrecked bike and then purchase a 2002 Electra Glide frame, but after I installed my 2001 Electra Glide swing arm on the new frame now i can't get the rear wheel to line up correctly. The wheel is offset to the right about 1/2 inch. Are the rear wheel spacers on the 2002 to 2008 Electra Glide the same as the 99 to 01? When I originally removed the rear wheel I place the spacers on the axle bolt the way that they came off and I didn't touch the adjusters on the swing are. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
