The Road Glides look great going down the road. I like the way the RG fairing deflects the wind somewhat better than the Batwing fairings. I realize it the nature of the design but I don't like the Road Glide fairing being so far forward from the rider position.
For me, it's a matter of ergonomics. The Ultra just fits me better. I've ridden the RG Ultra but the handlebars are just not a good fit for me. Overall, I think it simply comes down to what bike fits you best. They are both great bikes.

Absolutely, and for tall guys, the RG's fit better.
Also, there's the fact that the Road Glides are considered not as attractive or cool, by some.
The thing is with me, I'm already "too cool", so I like to tone it down by riding a Road Glide

I hear ya about fit. I'm a big guy and love how roomy the Road Glide feels. The handlebars are probably the first thing most Road Glide riders change. I haven't changed mine, but I'm way in the minority and I'm not saying I won't. I've done 900 mile days though and they don't seem that 'bad' to me.
I love the Roadie though and couldn't imagine riding anything else but thats the main thing, loving it, no matter the model.
The fact that the radio and other dash mounted controls required me to lean to reach them was one of the reasons I did not get the RG and instead bought another Electra Glide. Besides that, the Road Glides did not come in white.
You do know that the Roadie has remote handle bar radio controls, right.
I think the bars on the road Glide Ultra are different, better than the ones that came on my 06".
I'm renting a FLTRU in March in Arizona. Looking forward to it. From the way it feels in the showroom here,I think the bars will be just fine.
My wife and I use the intercom and to set the voice sensitivity there is a radio button to push. Same with the CB.
....... this is the FIRST reasoned justification for the usual 'oh the radios too far away' comments that i've read.
... Congratulations to Badlands for actually having a clue re: radio ergonomics !!

iPod interface means using the dash for changing playlists.
I like having my tach where it is as well.
I also like being able to stand and see the front wheel to line up with my my cycle scooter when driving it onto it in the garage. Not sure if you can do that with an RG?
