Default EGC,fork question

I have a 2001 Eglide and I want to take out the air suspension and just have standard type forks,I have progressive on the rear with a glide-pro setup and thats great so now i need to do the front and Im not into the air supension my question is which is best way to go
eg find a set of forks from a newer Eglide or just change out the springs and the caps on the top of the forks?

Air in the front forks is an optional adjustment.

Have you tried them without air but with heavier Fork Oil?

That's how I'm running my 2000, ( Same forks as yours.)
