Default Stupid exhaust question

Picking up my 2012 Tequila Sunrise Orange Street Glide tomorrow.

Ordering a Jackpot x-pipe and CFR Slip-ons late this week. Right now I would like to just do the exhaust and later on get tuner and A/C.

Main goal is not to screw up my motor by doing this mod. Not sure which tuner or A/C I am going to go with trying to plan out each mod carefully.

I have searched and read several threads saying opposite things on changing out my exhaust.

Sorry for the thread.

Get ready to wait a couple of weeks for the FM header. I ordered the ceramic header and was quoted 8-10 weeks. Less for the plain header, but still a couple of weeks. They were supposed to get some plain headers at the begining of the month. Good luck.

The bike is going to run leaner because your reducing back pressure with the exhaust and its very lean to begin with. I would get a tuner from fuelmoto with a caned map as well that way it won't be to lean. Once the bike has a good brake in get it dyno'd. Just my opinion. Good luck and congrads on the new ride brother.

If it were me, I would install the slip-ons only for now. Your Fuel Injection system is tuned for a Cat. converter in the head pipe. If you put a new header on it with no download or no tuner, it may mess up the way your motorcycle runs.

You can put the head pipe on when you get ready for the tuner and air cleaner.

My 2 cents

You will NOT harm anything by just changing the exhaust. If you added a high-flow air cleaner at the same time it would be a different story. Call Jamie at www.fuelmotousa.com and verify this with him. I'd take his word over most people's on this forum, including my own.

Thank you for the replies. Will give them a call. Going to do the tuner and A/C just at a later time.

Thx for the info. Since I am going to use the stock heat shields figuring it doesn't matter too much if I go with the plain exhaust. My bike is garage kept and I don't usually do a lot of riding in the rain unless I am caught in it.

I don't see where you ever asked a question. You say what you want to do, but what is your question?

Sorry I edited my post and didn't phrase it correctly to ask the question.

Asking if I am going to screw up my motor by just adding a headpipe with no cat and slip-ons? My searches have come up with yes and no.

Going to call Fuelmoto tomorrow and talk to them.
