Default Head Pipes

Quick question. If I get rid of the cat and go with new head pipes ( with Monster Oval slip ons) on my '12 Limited, do I also need to add a fuel management system? No other mods at this time. Will eliminating the cat cause any warranty issues? Thanks

I'm new here so I defer to the experts for details but- Yes you will need to Tune.

Seems that most of the 2012 - 103ci owners can do full pipes without a tuner.
Maybe the newer ecm's are smarter... as for air cleaner mods, that might require, not sure...

Borderline (lean)...I'd get one just because you'll be adding air/Stage-1/2/3 later so why not add capability to tune??? Dobeck's units onlt run $200+ & have discounts if you apply (got mine for $150).

Yeah I have rode mine with full exhaust and no tune a limited number of times. I personally dont think it's horrible for it, but you are going to want a tune no doubt..

my dealer is delivering my '12 FLHX to my garage on or about 3-23. it is coming from the dealer with V&H dresser duals and V&H monster ovals. as long as i am leaving the stock A/C and just changing the header and mufflers my dealer assures me i DO NOT need to address the fuel management issue.

I was always under the impression that if you just change the exhaust that no, you don't need fuel management. But if you change the air cleaner system to stage one yes, you would need fuel management because of the amount of air coming into the engine. I could be misinformed.

After going the de cat and add slipon exhaust route I would highly recommend just going out and getting a full exhaust with the intended header and not a modified stock catless header.
Believe me, just do it right the first time and you will save money in long run.
I think you will want to get a tune as well just because it runs lean to begin with and will run leaner once you open the exhaust up.
