Default upper back pain

Hello out there, new member here. I just bought a Road King Classic 2012 model. I seam to get some upper back pain with the stock handlebars. Anyone else with this problem?. Which way do I go with the adjustment up or down?

Just for kicks, I would go back to the dealer and try their setups on for size(sorry, can't think of the name of trying different bars, seats, floorboards, etc.) Maybe a seat that pushes you forward an inch would make a difference. Not saying you should go back and buy anything, but for free you can try various setups.

I had this on my '09 Ultra and it was from leaning a bit forward. I had pain in my upper back and between my shoulders. I went with a set of the new Harley "Reach" bars and that cleared it right up. They make them for the Road King too. A lot of guys talk about the wrist angle on those bars not being great but I've never had an issue. Having to do it over again I'd do the same thing.

Backrest should help immensely, and apes will take care of the rest. I used to be more uncomfortable on my RKC after an hour than I was on my Hayabusa after the same amount of time. Now it's no contest.

Had the same problem with my 2011 RKC. I had the dealer install heritage style bars. No new cables were necessary and it gives you about 3" pullback.

Had the same problem when I first got my bike. But over time my back stopped hurting. Guessing I just had to get use to the position not sure. You might want to think about mini apes. Going to be switching out to 10" PYO Monkey bars in the next two to three months.
