I have the 2-2a's which is a newer version. It's a Ohlin 12 1/8" shock but has a longer shock stroke, 3 1/4" as compared to the 2-2 which is about 1/2" less shock stroke. I've not ridden a bike with the 3's so I can't give you a comparison. I am quite satisfied with the 2-2a and if you are going to go with a #2 and want to keep the original height then go with the 2-2a.
JJ,How much do you ride 2up?..I keep going back and forth between the 2"s and 3's,think I've change my mind a dozen times
Mg...I was between 3-3 and 6's..meeting howard tomorrow and picking up my 3'3. You can't go wrong with 3'3...
Tell him I said hi and thanks for sending me to do homework. I'll be calling later to order!!! I'm excited to maybe get my wife on the bike father than going to the local watering hole.

Picked up my Ohlins..to begin and met howard...he is a book of information..don't mess with his knowledge..we reviewed how to make adjustments and what not to do so you don't spoil the new shocks as well as how to install correctly..not difficult. But need to know what not to do..I'll do a write up when I install my Ohlins sometime mid May..
Howard seems to be doing well compared to 2 months ago and has began to repair his scoot..amazing his bike didn't have more damage to what happen. Like I have read on forum..howard knows his $$it ..thank you howard ..and all from forum with your feedback..
Cheers
Ride safe..
Maybe I'm in the boat alone here, but I didn't go with the #2 Ohlins because I was on a budget. What I'm trying to say is that I bought #2-#2A because that's what works for me. I could have gone 3's or 2's.
I have know doubt that the 3's are great, better, whatever? But the shorter shock worked with how I have the front set with 1" lowered gold valve emulators. They have a long stroke and I wiegh 230lbs and ride 2 up with great results.
Understanding how to set your shocks preload will work wonders. I have 3 settings for 1 up, 2up and 2 up loaded.
I will admit that I was after the ride and I was after a certain look and I was able to achieve both with #2-#2A.
Us arguing about which Ohlins model is best is like 2 fleas arguing about which one owns the dog!
I was just looking for someone that have rode on both and can say, yes the 3's are worth more money. Still up in the air about which one's to get... Part of me wants to get the 3's because of the adjustability and the other part wants to 2's kinda of a put them on set the Sag and forget about it 1up or 2up and only readjust if I'm fully loaded on a trip... Flip a coin I guess...

The 3's are worth more money! Do you want to spend it? I wish when I bought mine I would have had the extra money to spend. I didn't have it. I have the 2's. They are darn nice. I have mine set high in the stroke(my shocks are 13.25 long with over 4inches of stroke) for my style and needs. When I have a passenger onboard(not often) I don't feel need to increase preload so I don't, but thats me.
