I have mine mounted on the left bar (it's a Road King so no fairing mount option) using initially the mount that came with it but then I got the MoCo mount. Both work really well with no vibration issues at all. I've heard about glare being an issue but as I live in the UK where the sun doesn't shine it's not an issue for me.

I have mine mounted to the fairing. It does vibrate more than I thought it would. I really like it there, anybody have any ideas to calm down the vibration. I fixed the broken fairing brackets and I think the vibration got worse!

The prior owner of my 2010 RG set the bike up with the handlebar mount for the 660. Works fine for me and don't think that I would like it on the fairing any better.

Default GPS Fairing Mount

I have had both the handlebar and fairing mount with the Zumo 550 and now the Roadtech 660. I prefer the fairing mount, puts it more in the line of view from the driver's position. No wires to look at either, I added the auxillary input to the back of the radio. Not hard to do with the info on the forum. Here are pics of both set ups, you decide which is best for you.

Two trains of thought here. I have the fairing mount on my 2010 Limited. I too went to a painted inner fairing this winter, and decided to add the CVO style padded dash and the CVO fairing mount because I was happy with the original fairing mounting system. I didn't mind drilling into the painted inner fairing because I liked the way it mounted and that the gps was always in your perihelia vision without taking your eyes off the road. If your not too concerned about selling your black inner fairing, try the fairing mount, and if it suits your purpose, then have it mounted on the new painted inner fairing. Then you will be sure what works for you before drilling the painted inner fairing.

That is a great idea Steve. Test on the stock inner fairing. Might have go your route with the SE Pad. I already have the fairing mount. Is the mount different when you add the CVO PAD?

Had my zumo 550 on the right handlebar switch housing. Tried it on the left also...Ended up going with the fairing mount on the painted inner and its the best place for ME to have it. No guage blocking, I don't need to lift my head up to see it thru my bifocals, It just works better for me that way.

have used it on a trip to Key West, Tail of the Dragon, Rt66 from here in Chicago to LA and it has never came off, I just make sure every few stops I make sure the nut is tight on it

That is my experience as well. I've had the GPS on the handlebar, and didn't like the looks, or the feeling of something sticking way out there. Looked cheesy when the GPS was off. I have the Harley GPS and fairing mount, and couldn't be happier. Looks clean when the GPS is off the bike, and is easy to see when mounted. I like having the commands through the speakers as well...a good setup for me.
