Broken Fairing Mount
Ok,
So Fed Ex is nice enough to drop off my new Zumo 550.[8D] Icome home from work, take off the outer fairing to run thewires for power and notice that the left fairing mount is broken at the top.[:@][:@]
I welded the broken mount on two planes instead of the single plane that it was originally bent on, then I welded the the second side of the undamaged mount. The mounts won't break again.
but myguess is that they are designed astheweak link because they are cheaper than the inner fairing so welding them up means that the inner fairing will most likelybreak the next time. Oh well I just couldn't see putting something back together that I know isn't gonna make it.
Guess I'll see what breaks next.
Any suggestions?[>:]

Had my inner fairing painted this past spring. When I took everything apart, 3 or the 4 brackets werre broken, left main, and both speakers. I was on windshield number 3 too. They all cracked on that left side. Makes sense now. Since that time, everything has been good, and yes, I did replace with stock brackets, as I don't have a welder or those skills.

I haven't seen a broken on yet and I work on all my friends bikes.

I've had them brake a few times on my Ultra too.
Mine's an "03, so the problem isn't new.
Zumo 550, you're going to love it!
I've had mine since July '07.
Put it on a few days before doing an all 48 state ride.
I'm still learning what this unit can do.
Have you been to thezumo forums?
Lots of info from exprienced zumo users there

Cheap easy fix. They won't break again.
