Default GPS Fairing Mount or Handle bars

I am wanting to mount the GPS to the fairing but later this year I will be getting a color matched inner fairing. So for now do I go ahead and drill the stock inner fairing and then just move it to the new inner fairing? Or do I go with a handle bar RAM mount so the stock fairing will be easier to sell when I do take it off?

If you are going to sell the stock inner fairing I would NOT do the fairing mount on that one as you will need to drill a big hole!

That is what I was thinking. I could mount it to the bars now using the RAM mount I had on my Wide Glide. Then go ahead and do the fairing mount when I get the new inner fairing.

this is what I have on mine, clamps around the bar and has a waterproof case to hold your gps unit, my tom tom fits in it great, this is the 4th year I've had it with no problems and never got the gps wet also under $20..

i had a fairing mount on my SG and removed it after it cracked from the vibration. i use a handlebar mount now. i really liked the positioning of the fairing mount and looked better but the vibration at idle was terrible.

Was that the HD fairing mount for the Road Tech? That would be a first I have heard of them breaking....

If you have a regular passenger, it is a good idea to set your gps off to one side, so they can also read it. My wife provides commentary over the intercom in busy traffic, or where the roads are a challenge. We ride together!

thats a great idea!! that would have kept a guy I work with from crashing his Gold Wing a few years back, he looked down at his gps then when he looked back up the truck in front of him had stoped, he ran into the back of a Ford f-150 at 30 mph totaled the bike, him and his wife got lucky he only broke a arm and she broke her nose

I have to admit it is because the right bar was the easiest place I could fit the thing! Only later when we were both out for a ride did she comment she could read it. But I'll take any credit going!
