I also went with the standard and save a few grand even after the $500 or so I put in it for the radio, speakers, amp and lowering kit.

Before

After (with cash in my pocket)

I went with a 2009 E-glide standard a year ago for $14,000. It's got the new frame, abs brakes and cruise. The previous owner had lowered it, added highway pegs, 4 point docking system and sissy bar with pad. You can add a tour pac for around $500.

those saddlebags guards are pretty good for when that wannabe biker drops his awesome vulcan into your bike at the Hideaway

the streetglide model is a factory version of the common mods done by riders to the EG Std ( discontinued 2009)- at a premium price.

I paid 15K for this up in Kingman with 5k miles

and the abs is great on the dirt roads, 2nd photo is the apache trail

I ran the same numbers, take an SG and add TP, etc., or go with EG?

I ended up with the street glide. There were many things I liked about the SG better, it was lower, cleaner front and rear end, etc. When I did the math the SG was cheaper considering the above-and-beyond changes I'd have to make to get what I wanted out of the EG (New front fender, lower x 1 inch, saddlebag guard changes).

This is all about what you like or don't like and the dollars needed to change what you buy. I'd suggest doing the math, and then let your "gut" take over from there.

When i went in to buy a bike, i asked the question what was the best bang for the buck. I walked out with an EGC with a detachable tour pak. I ride almost all the time without the tour pak unless im going on a trip, which comes off and goes on again in less that 5 minutes. Its truly like having 2 bikes, i have no regrets with my decision and would do it all over again. jd

I do want abs.I'm in AZ

Any advice or info of the basic difference of a Street or Electra Glide?
Well the basic differences are covered in other posts, but I did exactly the thing you are writing about.

I partially stripped my 09 Ultra Classic by putting the TourPak on a detachable kit, went with a solo saddle, removed the front and rear bumper bars and the 'cage' style protectors around the bags.
It came at a price though, as the full quick detachable kit and electrical wiring kit (to still be able to use the radio and CB antennas) is pricey but worth it IMO. If you use the Classic model then no need to mess with antennas but having tunes on board is really good (you could still do that with an Ipod and ear buds of course).

I can reinstall the TP and wiring with antennas in about 15 minutes taking my time and put the full seat on in a couple of minutes.
My general rule for travelling is that for rides longer than 3 days I put the TourPak back on for extra space.

I would NEVER lower mine as the harsher ride isn't worth it IMO. It still looks good at the full shock length anyway.

Wen it's time to sell I'll put everything OEM back on.

what to do , what to do.... only you can decide at the end of the day.

PS-- the sig post was taken before I took off the bumpers front/back.

Default electraglide

I just bought a 2010 electraglide classic after selling a 2004 electraglide. I was searching the same as you are and found the Streetglide 2000.00 more for the same year Electraglide. If you travel at all , go with the electraglide you have the tour pack. I will set up my new bike the same way as my 2004 electraglide was....

black rear crash bars (around the front of the rear bags only )
chopped shield
remove both bumpers on fender
streetglide rear blinker bar
badlander seat
already had quick detach box
streamliner rear pegs

I bought the 2010 FLHTC black with cruise with 757 miles on it $15500.00
