I put a street glide fender on my 09 FLHTP. I am attempting to put the wheel back on but I cannot get the axle all the way through. The spacers are the same width on both sides.
When I pull the spacers out and just put the axle through to see where it should be, the thick portion of the axle sticks out on the inner side of the fork where the spacer would be. The problem is that the spacer is not large enough diameter to go around the larger part of the axle.
If I just put the spacers in and tighten it down, it seems like the wheel is not quite centered and the hole on the right side of the axle is not "sucked" all the way up to the fork.
I will be buying a service manual, but advice is appreciated because I would like to get this finished up tonight. Thanks.
the spacer does not go thru the largest part of the axle. unless I am reading your post wrong. the thickest part of the axle (the part with the hole in it) needs to be on the outside of the forks.
Yea....thats my feeling, but shouldn't the hole on the right side of the axle be flush with the outside edge of the fork? With the spacers in the hole is about 3/8" outside of the edge of the fork.
Ok...I got it. The large part is machined and makes it look like it it needs to slide all the way to the hole, and that's how it was on my buell. I got her set up, thanks for the help fellas.
