Here's one for the books.
I stopped at the local dealer. I'm wondering if I need to update the ECU download after doing just the Cylinders and pistons to 95". The service manager says "I don't know" but I'll ask tomorrow when my top tech comes in and call you. Then he says "don't go away". He goes into the parts dept. and comes back with a list of parts totaling $5,500.00 including labor.Heads, cams, pistons, cyls., the whole route including compression release. Then he says they have to do something special to the new performance heads.
I asked what they do and I was told "I don't know". I asked why they can't do this special thing to my old heads and got the same reply "I don't know". Then he tells me the compression release is to prevent me from blowing my new heads.I almost laughed in this dudes face. Then I had to explain to him what the compression release is for. Come to find out He's new and also the Service Manager. He is from Wendy's. Yep the hamburger joint. Still haven't got the answer I was looking for. Anyway just thought I'd share a laugh.
AAHHHH, another well trained HD employee---I love when I go into a dealership and I know more than the parts guy (which happens alot) and the service manager Ya gotta love it!!!
