Been using Mequiers carnuba for years. What do you use? Looking for a change - looking for something better. Bike is EGC - Black. Maybe a wax that is just made for black?
I have been using Turtle wax for years, on bothe vehicle and bike. Never had a problem with the shine or it holding up for awhile. Use Turtle wax chrome polish on the bike also.
The key to black is getting the finish swirl free first! I have a Porter Cable buffer with a 3.5" backing plate and I've detailed many bikes using this method:
Menzerna IP 2000 - Intensive Polish PO91E
Followed by: FF 3000 - Final Finish PO85U
Then I top it with Klasse All In One
I like Menzerna polishes because they are easy to use and the break down fast...and the Klasse is awesome because it is a polymer sealant so it enhances the shine and it protects the paint for 6 months. It sounds like a lot of work, but it takes me about 1 hour to do.
My RK is vivid black and pledge furniture polish makes it shine like its still wet. Great stuff. Use it on everything. Even tried it on my 69 mach 1, red with black hood, and got many compliments on the shine.
Use either Black Box or Mcquires NXT with Mcquires Detailer between waxings. Pledge seems to do a good job cleaning but seems to streak the Vivid Black and not too sure its not removing prior waxes. Also not too sure it does anything for UV protection. I've found the effort for Black Box depends on how bad your finish has swirls. If your finish is still in good shape its no worse than waxing your bike twice. Not sure why but the Black Box seems to collect dust less than the NXT.
