Default Color Matched Engine Guards

Has anyone powdercoated their engine guard to match their bikes paint... other than black?

Post some pic

I haven't - I think it would look quite original, but that is down to personal taste...

I wouldn't do it though for a more practical reason. Whilst I haven't, and don't ever plan to, I think we all know how easy it is to drop these bikes. I dropped my 08 ultra and was delighted that the guards protected the bike brilliantly and, apart from a dented ego, there were no visible signs at all.

Think with powder coating is that it is brittle. I would worry about it cracking and chipping badly, and that would remind my of my gross stupidity every time I looked at my bike

I suppose it would be like any other piece on my bike. If it gets damaged, its done its job and I'd repair it?

Yes, that is true. I guess my point is that this is an item which is more at risk of damage than others.

Not a big issue or a show stopper, just a point you may want to consider

However, The last belt I bought from you I wear daily. Many ask for your name after seeing it and commenting. Hope its generated some bus for ya! Rick

Yeah, I guess to be different means I need to take a little more risk! I know what you mean for sure though! Thanks for the comments...

They make some colored translucent powder coat that looks great over chrome. I think it would look cool on the right bike.

I like the idea Rick. I think you need to do this one and then post the pics. You may be on to something here. I could also see it done and then a partial leather wrap (Captain Itch's domain) to show stripes of color and leather.
