Default Engine Chirpping

I'm new to this forum stuff and searching for some advice or help with some engine noise that just started on my 2011 street glide.

Like i said i have a 2011 street glide with roughly 8500 miles on it, recently i noticed a slight chirpping sound from the front end somewhere, this sound was only when it was warming up and occasionaly but now it seems to be getting more common. I cannot narrow down where the noise is coming from but sounds like it's louder on the left side of the engine but i cannot confirm that it is the engine or just a squeeky motor mount. To describe the chirpping better at first it was so slight i thought the vibration of the engine was sounding my bell underneith but soon found that it wasnt that and now it seems to be getting more common, i can hear it randomly at stop lights and sometimes while riding.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

if it occurs when decelerating, look at belt tension.

a loose belt will chirp.

often associated with added lowering kit and belt tension not adjusted to spec afterward

an exhaust leak can also chirp

I appreciate the feed back.. The chirpping sound is present while idling and stopped it sounds like its coming from the fron of the engine near the forks but when i get under and listen it isnt coming from there just some place up front near the engine. i dont think it could be a slipping belt so soon, could it???

Hows the torque on your exhaust pipes where they come out of your exhaust head ports?

If you have checked over everything on the front end to make sure its all tight I would then pull off the outer fairing to see if your support brackets are broke.

no, the belt is very positive in it's engagement ( the belt is toothed and the pulleys have grooves), service life 100,000 miles or more is common.

the chirp i refer it is a mal adjusted belt ( loose) which can chirp when the bike is deaccelerating.

look at exhaust leak, loose exhaust heat shield, try shaking stuff when the bike is cold etc.

try to isolate whether this is:

motor hot/cold/rpm related

chassis ( shake it) and check jiffy stand up/down

or road speed related ( we think not at this point as it happens at idle)

I would also check the rubber bushings under your saddlebags where the mufflers mount. Mine dry out and will chirp like that so i spray a little WD40 on them and it quiets it down til i replace them.

While you're at it check your intake seals by shooting a little carb cleaner at them while idling.

If the idle varies when you do this, you've got a leak there.
