markymann, the guy is seeking honest advice and input about helping his dad out, not smartass comments. Helping HDF members with stuff like this is what the forum is about.

I put the SE Fatshotz on mine. They have the adjustible discs on the back. Want more sound, change the number of discs. Less sound, change number of discs. As set for my limited as they came, they have a nice mellow additions. Deep but not loud enough to get on your nerves after a few hours riding. They are free flowing too. I did ac and download and it woke the bike up. Good luck

Like has been said earlier, on that bike, the Cat is in the Headpipe and it get's really hot.

Either gut the Cat, or replace the Headpipes to get rid of the heat.

Then, you can probably just stay with the stock mufflers as they will be louder with the Cat gone.

As long as you don't change the Air Cleaner, you don't need to worry about tuning.

I have a 2011 eg ultra limited. I got a set of Vance & Hines slip ons from a member of this furom for $150.00, and changed nothing else. I love the sound I get now, not too loud but sounds like a Harley. I didn't take out the cat, or change air intake nothing just slipped off the originals and slipped on the new ones.

On a completely stock 2012 we recommend the 2.50" baffle in our slip-on mufflers. The 2.25" is the smallest size recommended. No tuning is required with either size. Generally speaking tuning is not required with any slip-on as long as the engine headpipes and air filter are stock. The bike is able to compensate for the changes and get back to a stock air to fuel ratio.

If you're wanting to keep it cheap, I'd look through the classifieds. Pick up a used set of slip ons for cheap. If you don't like how they sound, sell them for what you paid for them...

Just my .02 worth: Pulled the mufflers off my 2010 limited to send to American Custom. With the cat still in place, I could not discern any difference in sound with the mufflers on or off. Installed an 09' header pipe(no cat), then I really had sound. Still too quiet with American Custom baffles, so I kept drilling 5/16 " holes until I got the sound I wanted.

Does anyone have a set of Freedom Exhaust Outlaw's Megaphones for sale? Not the Signature Series.
