+1 I like the option of putting on or taking off the fairing.

I finally got my fairing all put together with the speakers and head unit. Turns out thier windshields they use are tinted plexiglass....I was like...WTF? and the one they sent me was broken. They told me they would be sending another one out as soon as they got another shipment in...wow...

But I just took it out for a spin tonight and it seems solid no vibration and as far as quick detatch, that is not really an option. Not that I am taking it off...ever...at this point. Other than to install the marine rain cover I ordered for it.

They really make it hard for you if you want to DIY. I dont know the lady's name there, I think it is the owners old lady...but talk about attitude. The other girl that I have talked with a couple of times was really nice. But when I ordered the rain shield for the fairing i asked her if it was in stock...she said that she did not know..but she THOUGHT so...and she would have to go check....(long silence...) Ummm...ok? Will you check? (Big sigh from her) She huffed away from the phone and said curtly that it was in stock.

wow.

Parakiller~ How was the quality of the fiberglass, paint prep, & the paint? Seems DF has been struggling with QC lately though seems Like scheduling has always NOT been a strong suit of theirs.

Yeah it seemed to me that they rushed the QC...My paint guy was able to patch up the overcuts and some deep scratches that were on the fairing so it didnt become a big deal. The fairing still had yellow markups on it when it was shipped to me....you would think that they would, you know, wipe it off or something? Just saying...and the broken windshield on delivery was a slap in the face...they said that the packer in the warehouse was supposed to put a note in the box explaining that they recieved a whole shipment of broken windshields and that I would be getting another replacement in the mail soon....still have not recieved anything from them....since they are probably reading these posts I may not get one...LOL

I've got a Klock Werks rear fender sitting in a box in my garage with the same yellow markups on it, and some scuff marks, and it's advertised as being in primer, ready for your painter. It's not uncommon, nor unexpected.

what are you "just saying" I am not clear on that. Ready for paint means that it is just that. Not having to do bodywork or do filling for obvious screw ups either in manufacturing or shipping. But like I said my paint guy is awesome and it was not that big of a deal for him to do that extra prep to make my fairing look good.

Just saying.

C'mon, stop defending these people! They don't deserve our hard earned money, there are tens of good companies with excellent customer service that are quick to fix what they did wrong. This is not an isolated case of bad behavior,it's their way of treating the customers after selling them poorly made/defective items.

I'm saying, I feel your pain. I'm going to have to figure out some way to get those damned yellow markups off the fender before I paint it.

Think some soap and water will do it?

Yeah i think that soap and water will do it. let me know how that works for you. I am sure you will tell me that everyone needs to wash thier "ready to paint" parts and that some scratching and other bullsh it is just part of life. I get it. now please move on to another thread. you are boring me.

Just wanted to provide a quick update from my prior post - I received a new replacement head unit yesterday from Dragonfly's vendor. As directed by the lady at DC, she suggested it would be a 10 minute switch of the head unit and that it was a matter of simply unplugging the old and plugging in the new. I opened the fairing and it didn't look like an easy fix for someone with little knowledge of aquatic sound equipment (see pics). I decided to close up the fairing and ship the whole thing back to Dragonfly as I didn't want to risk messing up the wiring. After calling them today and speaking to their tech, he reinforced that it's not a quick, easy install as opposed to the lady I spoke with initially and that sending it back would be the best option.

I'll let everyone know how it goes, I'm confident they'll fix or replace this fairing since I've had several other challenges in addition to the head unit. Also, closing the fairing wasn't an easy task either as I found it very difficult to align the bolts perfectly for a secure fit. Working alone, it took about 2 hours but I'm sure it's simple for the DC techs to pop open and close as they do this all day along with a shop designed to work on these fairings. Again, the tech I spoke with today confirmed that it can be a challenge to open and close the fairing and it's usually better to leave be if it can be avoided. I also had an issue with re-attaching the windshield but it could be a matter of alignment and I'll let them fix with the rest.

Aside from the malfunctioning head unit that I'm confident will get fixed, the wiring appeared very organized with black plastic binds as you'll see in the pics, which I attached to give an idea of what it looks like. Also, I received the new latch from their vendor to replace the faulty saddlebag latch and swapped it out. It was tedious and took about two hours but it's in proper working order now.

I'll send an update after I send this fairing back and give Dragonfly the chance to abide by their warranty. It has tremendous potential, I'm hoping they'll fix it all and I can start enjoying this premium addition to my bike.
