Last 3 years been using Mobil 1 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil in transmission. Shifted smooth, occational 1st gear clunk, neutral easy to find. Always looked great when I drained it with not much crud accumulated on drain plug magnet. Cost averaged $10qt.
Friday I performed my 30,000mi maintenance and switched to Spectro 75W-140 6-Speed Platnium Synthetic Gear Oil @ $17.99qt + shipping. So far so good. It does shift just a tad smoother I noticed.
Bottom line there all good (but still not comfortable with a 20W-50 formula).
Agreed! I wont use anything else!
Can you use regular oil? yes, but since Harley builds them with gear oil I use gear oil, and the best is Amsoil imo, Love it and well worth the money!
Just filled my tranny with the Redline with shockproof for the first time, thickkkk stuff. I coulnt believe that it wasnt even transparent. But it had that delicious gear lube smell that much is for sure. Havent got to ride it yet, waiting on parts. As far as engine and primary, regular old 20w50 Dino/
