Ive got a 2012 road king, when it gets good and hot after a hundred mile trip it makes a funny sound idling in neutral. If I pull the clutch in the noise goes away. Of course on the new models there is no inspection plate where you can see whats going on. It has done this since it was new. Any ideas? It sounds like the primary chain is loose and it only does it when it is hot.
Click on the two links in my first post. It will explain everything.
Thanks for the info. Happening to me as I'm breaking in my new SG. First heard it thought something must be totally wrong. Almost rode it straight to a dealer. Thought I'd check here first.....and sure enough.

You guys are the best!
My 09 had it and so does my 2011. I had my bike at the NHRA drags in Norwalk, Ohio and the Harley reps were there. This was in 09. They listened to it and went back to Milwaukee and called me within a week. Said nothing to worry about. I hate that noise though.
Do know as I recognize it on my RK, if its doing it to mine I dont hear it? I experimented with ATF in there for like 3-4 miles awhile back and it was not only loud but the stink it made while in there was putrid.
