Hi there from Malaysia,
I have a problem and I'm sure I'm alone in this, I am about to actually planning to buy a harley, the problem is a toss up between the a used 09 Crossbone or new 2012 Street Glide, standard or CVO?
I've been riding and racing superbike in local scene especially the italian v-twins for almost 20 year. Actually not too long ago my first taste of harley was a Dyna low rider, I remembered chasing a Duc 749S on a downhill, which shock most riders then I tried a XR1200R belongs to a friend and ever since then I have been itchin to switch to own a Harley, the problem is which model, I like Bobber look, actually been thinking about trying my hands on trick out bobber and take it to the track for fun but then I saw new 2012 bagger, especially the Custom bagger, am torn between the two.
Please reply, I would like to read of your some stories on model of choice.
Sounds like you'd do better on the cross bones. Really - you race, and think about taking it to the track. Plus you hunt down Ducati's. Ain't gonna happen on an SG.
They're all cool, and all have that "low grunt" motor, although the grunt gets much better after you do the right mods.
You need to take a serious look at the type of riding you will be doing, and then make the choice based on what best fits your needs.
If you aren't doing a lot of touring and don't need the luggage and fairing then think about a Wideglide or a Superglide.
Plan on doing some mods, on a new one you'll want to add a Stage 1, with a air cleaner/pipes and eliminate the CAT and put in a EFI tuner. Figure $1.5K USD at least if you aren't going to do the work yourself.

Yeah been doing it for awhile now..Racing that is... Well hunting the Ducati wasn't quite right word, just that these guys thinks they own the road, so I chase them down the hill that is, Dyna lowrider can keep up with them on the corner till you hit the straight then you have to do it all over again or maybe this guy were playing me on, to see if I crash and burn...who knows!, but after that fun I never did see that 749S owner again...We get a lot of wannbe Rossi here in my home town.
