Question about NIM Navigation Interface Module
I have a 2012 Ultra Limited and just installed the Road Tech Zumo 665, fairing mount, NIM and the HD Bomm. Everything works except when the radio is playing, there is no interupt to play the GPS turn by turn. It works on the XM and the mp3, but not the radio. Do you have any ideas? I called Harley and asked them which of the 5 wires that I plugged into the radio connector controlled the radio interupt and their response is that it should work if the XM and MP3 works. Any suggestions? I have my fairing off waiting until it all works. By the way, the HD Bomm will let you take phone calls thru the zumo bluetooth and feed thru the Harley 7 pin connetor to your headset.

If the music stop then the NAV volume on the HK radio is too low. Easy way to adjust it is to make the GPS give directions and when it is hit the volume button. If done correctly you will see PHONE/NAV (or NAV/PHONE cannot remember) and can adjust the volume to hear the directions. The HK radio has master, CB, intercom, and NAV volume that can adjust at different times.
I'm looking at the Zumo 660 to buy myself. What do you guys think about "not" using the Interface and plugging it up with the cable to the aux. port on the radio? I do use an Ipod often now but I've read and heard others talk about putting songs on the GPS and going that route.
Is this "do-able" using the port on the front of the radio and having songs on the GPS instead of using an Ipod? Thanks for your input and advise on the matter.

That is doable but the radio will have to be in AUX all the time to hear the directions from the GPS. The NIM allows you to listen to whatever you want and still get directions.

I thought about getting the NIM, but I don't really use the GPS all that often. When I do use the GPS, I don't usually need to hear directions thru the radio anyway, I just watch the screen and turn the GPS volume up.
If I really need hard core directions, I just plug it into the front radio port and get the sound thru the bikes speakers. I also have music on the GPS so I still have tunes.
Don't get me wrong, the NIM is great if you really need it, but what you're asking is very "do-able".
Do you have to switch to AUX in order to use the phone via BT? When I hit the NAV button I get Internal NAV not installed on the Radio. It works but is not as seamless as expected. RT Zumo 660 using the Harley harness w/NIM on 2012 Ultra Classic
Yes, must be connection to the aux for phone. The NIM is only for nav instructions.
The NAV selection on the radio isn't for the ZUMO, its for an obsolete NAV product...
