Default Question about mini-apes

Hello all, 5'7" w/ 29" inseam. Been running the HD reach bar for about a year:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...5&default=none

Don't have a problem with wrist angle w/ Kury Throttle Boss. Just want to have a little higher position for my hands (maybe 8"-10"). Tried rotating the bar up but I have to reach for it. Hence considering mini-ape with pull back. Do not want bar higher than fairing. Here're my questions:

1. Can I go to, say, 12", and rotate it back further to achieve the pull back reach, as well as lowering the whole bar so it'll be in line or below the fairing?

2. Or should I stay with 10"?

It's gonna be quite a job, since wires are internally wired. And of top of that, I have "Bar-Snake" inside the bar to dampen the resonance with the HD bar. Am hoping I can reuse the wires, but doubtful I can even pull the old wiring back due to the "Snake".

Please chime in.

I don't know if I can answer your question but have a little input. I have the Chubs mini apes which feel perfect for me. I believe they are 10" and the original wiring just made it, so I don't know if the 12" would work. As far as pulling them back some, the angle at the hand grip would change to much for my comfort, so I like them up more straight. Puts my hand level just under my heart. They are the bars in my signature picture if that helps.

May I ask how tall are you? Good point regarding hand grip angle...

I am also 5'7 with a 30 inch inseam. I went with Wild One 577's because they have more pull back. I have been very pleased and yes your hands are slightly above the fairing but it hasn't been a problem.

Looking at Wild One's website. I think I like the 575. It seems to have the most pullback: 13" and it's 34.5 wide. I imagine I can lean back on backrest and don't have to reach for the bar.

Currently I have to lean slightly forward to even reach the HD pullback bar. Spec looks like 7.5" pullback and 30.5" wide.

The concern I have is WO575 being wider, at slow speed turns I might have to reach forward for the turn. Any thoughts?

I am 5'8 and 30 inseam. I have Santee 11" apes. Love them and would not turn back. I wrestled with the pullback issue forever before pulling the trigger. Turns out when your arms go up and straight out you don't need as much pullback. Leverage and turning is way better than stock. On my 02 I went +6 on all cables.

Same size as you and yes, I have to reach/lean forward a little in tight turns with the 575's if you push them all the way forward like I did. Mine were pulled back further than stock after initial installation, but I pushed them all the way forward, up against the fairing to make me reach for them. Works better for my back and shoulders.
