One drop of the bike and the answer may be YES....Another function over form accessory....
actually, it was pre-dropped when i got it, my brother in law had it, wife dropped it in a parking lot, funny thing is, the guards were "in" the saddlebags at the time.. had not put them on yet, it fell over in the garage once while i owned it, guards work... I dont want to try to match big blue pearl paint on the new one

I don't disagree and as I said, my opinion is the op should decide what he likes. 39 years of riding Harleys, I'm pretty sure I may drop one again, but I don't plan on it. If that was the case, I suppose I could wrap the whole thing in bubble wrap and ride around waitin', ya know. It's all about what each individual feels about his own stuff and what chances he is willing to take.
I pulled the wrap around bag guards off my Ultra and put on the SG supports, much easier to wipe down. I was thinking if you had a vivid black bike and powder coated the guards black they wouldn't look bad. As mentioned its an individual thing
I bought saddle bag guards and rails off a forum member... read a thread about expoy painting here.. and now my SG is sporting the full saddlebag guards & rails...in gloss black lol
I like the look and it does offer some protection

Reason: spelling is shite!
I'm adding the low profile ones to my RK, a few years back on my EG, I had a panic stop while taking a turn, and dropped the bike. When I saw my hard bags 1/4 inch from the tar, I knew these things do their job! No damage to the bike at all, except for one tiny mark
on the bottom of the front crash bar.
I also think the low profiles look better, they look a little more like the old style ones of the 50's and 60's.
I meant to add them to mine, but of course before I did I dropped it. Right side saddlebag was the only thing damaged. Its your choice, and the ones with the single bar in front of the saddlebag don't take away from the looks.
