Default Kickstand spring

So today I was loading my bike on my bro-inlaws trailer and when we ran it up the ramp the kickstand caught and broke the spring. I'll order one on Monday but just wondering how to install? In my experience high tension springs look easier to install than they actually are..

If you unbolt the lock tab and swing the stand forward, you can pop the spring right on. Swing it back again and put the lock tab back on and bolt it down. Of course, you either need to have it on a jack or someone holding it.

I have done the exact thing!

I placed one end of the spring on the frame eye and pulled the other end with Visegrips.

Just remove the bolt (holding the stop) with a 1/2" wrench. This will allow the kickstand to rotate FWD to attach the spring without having to stretch it on. Then just re-attach the stop. Just have someone hold the bike up or use a lift.

Check tab on stand, I damaged weld on mine, cracked it.If ok this is the easiest way I found. You need to remove stand and install spring in this manner.

Install end of spring into hole in frame weldment. Insert
threaded end of jiffy stand up through bottom of bracket.
Swing jiffy stand forward beyond the normal down position
and install other end of spring into hole in jiffy stand
weldment.
NOTE
Verify that end of spring enters hole at front of jiffy stand
weldment. If end of spring enters hole at
rear of weldment, spring coil will rub on jiffy stand when exercised.
Holding jiffy stand at the full forward (down) position, install
leg stop over threaded end with the stamped side down.
Install flat washer, lockwasher and hex screw.Tighten hex screw 15-20 FT LB

Not that I have ever TRAILERED ! But I found I needed to uncouple trailer and raise trailer. You also have to watch trailer doesn't raise as you back off. Don't ask me how I know. I made outrigger for the rear to stop this.

Default Follow the above instructions,

and if you have one of them old brake spring plier tools, it will make it a breeze.

Just be glad you don't have a Police bike that kills the motor when the K/S is not FULLY retracted. Ask me how I know this! Made for a LONG 4th of July weekend last year. And mine gave out @ a gas stop, didn't break it loading into the trailer!

And yeas I have learned to unhitch and unload the dragbike from the trailer, keeps you from high-centering and removing zipties holding clutch and wiring from the bottom rails of the frame!
