Zumo is $1000.00, maybe a little discounted at someplaces. I bought a Garmin I3 for $225.00 that does the same thing and mounted it to the handlebars of my Streetglide with a $13.00 part I got from West Marine. Works great and I can't get lost and I have an extra $750.00 to spend.
Only problem with the I3, is it isn't waterproof. but for the money not a bad deal.
I bought my Zumo for $783, on a preorder,
Love it, and works great on both the bike and the car. Nice to have both mounts. The Zumo also uses the SirfIII GPS receiver, which seems to work and lock on better than the old Parrallel system the older GPS use.
The waterproof part could be a problem and there are a couple of nice features the ZUMO has like traffic updates that the I3 does not have. I can't hear the lady telling me directions but that may be my selective hearing. I think the waterproof part is easily solved with a bag and set up behind the fairing. Haven't found a way to set speakers up yet.
I have the Quest, the 2720 and now the Zumo. All use Mapsource software. You will love it when you learn it. The Zumo is hands down the best for the bike. The bluetooth function is great while on the road. It pulls in your contact list straight from your phone, let's you know who is calling and allows you to place calls straight from the Zumo connected to your Bluetooth Headset. (I use the Motorola Bluetooth Headset). The ability to use the external SD card is great. I have a 2 gig card in mine. Routes, POI's and MP3's can all be stored and accessed via the card.
I gave my son the Quest. My wife uses the 2720 in her car for sales calls and I have the Zumo for my Ultra and if needed, the cage.
Look around on price. They can be purchased for as little as $750.
Upgrade? Personal choice. If your GPS serves you well, stay with it.
I just got mine on eBay for $728.00 plus $8.00 shipping from an authorized dealer. Came in two days via FedEx. Installed it on my Electra Glide Classic and used the accessories switch to power it. I like it because I can switch it from my truck to the bike in just a couple minutes.
densflh can you explain in a little detail how to conect zuma to acc switch? mine should be here today or tommorow and still tring to figure out were to power it.
thanks
