Whistler products have never impressed me much, and definitely not enough that I'd cut a hole in my fairing to put one in.
I've tried many brands of radar detectors, and never found one that performed better than the Valentine 1. I own 3.
Valentine was the best money could buy for many years.
Key word being was...
Valentine has not made a significant update to their technology in years. They have long since been passed by Escort and Bel (now owned by escort).
There are lots of detector test sites on the internet. Don't take my word for it. Do your own research.
Oh, and for you "flat earthers" yes they do work, although do to various tech upgrades in the radar / laser units they no longer give as much warning as they used to...
Ive had good luck with my Passport 8500 x50 in my cars, never used it on the bike though. It has alerted me many times any where from 1/4 mile to almost a mile out before a radar cop . I use it daily between my home and work ( 65 mi R/T on freeways) and many more times on the 275 mile drive to Vegas.
I think what most people dont take into account is
1. they are not fool proof
2. what the limitations are - work very well on flat roads, limited in hills and tighter corners.
On freeways my experience is they are great, on back roads not so good.
