Default ohlins vs progressive

so i am torn between 2 rear shocks right now and cost is a factor for me since i have numerous other things i wish to buy for my bike. i am 6'5" 300# ride solo most of the time but sometimes have the OL on the back and shes about 120#, so the two shock setups i have narrowed it down to are ohlins 2-2 or progressive 440HD, there is a sizable price difference between the two, around $150 (that could be my plasma rods for the back end) is it worth sticking the extra money into it for ENTRY level ohlins, honestly, i can see how the high end remote reservoir model could be a huge difference. and i hate to end up buying both at one point or another, i know that either one is a big jump from stock air, which i think is seriously lacking in performance. has anybody had both? in a similar ride circumstance as mine? am i comparing apples to oranges?

I can't give you an apples and oranges comparison, more like grapes and pickles. I put Progressives on an 05 XL1200C, it was an improvement over stock but not great. I have an Ohlins on an '05 Yamaha FJR1300 and it is oh my god fantastic. Rides smooth, great control and easy to adjust. It's kind of not fair but, I will still go with the Ohlins every time you get what you pay for.

No experience with Progressive shocks but, run the Ohlins 3-3's and I am very happy with my choice.

Running the Ohlins #6 and very happy. No experience with the Progressive although I'm sure are better than stock.

I can't give you the comparison you are asking about but I did run Progressive 940's and it was a nice improvement over stock , I am now running Ohlin's #3-#3 and there is no comparison they are so much better , I would believe dropping down in both lines from 940's to 440's and #3's to #2's would produce similar results with the #2's being superior

You should think about adding Ricor to your list.

I have only got about 300 miles on my new Ohlins 2-2 bs, but Oh my god they are already so much better than the stock POS. air shocks. This is the best mod I have done to my FLHX.

What did you guys do with the air lines? Leave them on by taping or zip tie or completly remove the system?
