coming from the front cylinder.it's not your average tapping/ticking noise most riders have. This noise seems to be more of a chattering noise and it resonates out the right exhaust. When I pass a vehicle or go by a concrete structure you can really hear the noise more so, the noise sounds like something is loose in the header or pipes, which it is not because I have installed different headers and pipes. Dealer says the usual .normal. Ever have cards in your spokes when you were a kid? Well the noise is a almost the same. The noise comes no matter what the condition, but seems to get even louder when going up a hill under load.
Oooops. When I started reading your thread I thought you had met my ex-wife!!!!

That was my first thought reading the subject title. Regardless, tell her, whoever she is, to get of and be quiet. Amazing how peaceful solo riding is.
On another note, the left muffler was slid too far forward and rattled against the crossover pipe. Sliding it aft just a bit and it tightened nicely. Also had one of the heat shields a bit loose and ticking against the one next to it. Sound bounces around behind the fairing/windshield.
check the torque of the head bolts...you can get to two of them with out pulling the rocker boxes. I just pulled my heads and jugs to do a 96 to 103 upgrade and found my forward head bolts very easy to unbolt relative to the rear ones. I had an occasional phantom noise. My bike is an 07 ultra with 11k miles.
just changed all the fluids today......noise is still there......will go around the bike and ensure bolts are all tight,I have used a rubber mallet on the chrome......
similar sound when my heat shield was touching my floorboard mount. when the bike was in my shop the shield was not touching but it was close enough so when the bike was running it was hitting the floor board mount . good luck

Same with my bike, Vance and Hines heat shield hitting the floorboard mount......finally put on Harley goodie extensions to solve it. No problems since! Good luck!
