Has to be larger then a 10 ft truck to have a ramp, there's a ramp trailer that can be rented 1 way, works well for a bike.

Not discounting the UHaul idea, but another good thing to have is Tow Insurance, I have it through HOG and my insurance carrier. Hard to rent a truck if you're stuck on the road by yourself with only a cell phone. Insurance might not cover the whole bill but it helps, I had a tow it would have cost me 260 but my insurance covered 120 of it so it helped.

How are you going to enjoy your trip if you keep worrying about little things like this?
If you break down the solution will depend on where it happens.
Enjoy the ride and let the adventure happen.

+1 It is good to plan but don't go over board, life is a adventure and any obstacle is how you approach the solution.

One time we where going throug the Monument Valley during thanksgiving, now mind this is before they had that welcome center. We take the truck through the 20 mile loop. Stop to take a potti break. I go to shift into neutral and nothing. The cotter key that held the shift linkage fell out. Well since I always take my brief case I go dig out a paper clip and a perfect fix. My daughter also learned "don't panic just think."

Be prepared but you can't plan for everything, enjoy your trip.

Might be cheaper to ship. I hear around 600-700.

If you don't want to ship renting a SUV with a trailer hitch then rent the motorcycle trailer from Uhaul and drive it home

You might get a week with unlimited miles on the SUV rental where the Uhaul truck would be per mile.

If you rent a pick up truck you might luck out and have a outdoor truck dock near by or the drainage ditch ramp usually works.

c50plus,
if you are that concerned about riding this motorcycle with high mileage you can do a couple of things. One don't go, you won't enjoy the trip anyhow, worrying the bike will break down. Two, spend the money you think your going to spend on getting this bike home on a newer motorcycle.
Just go and enjoy the ride.

Why worry? But be prepared.

I agree with some others. QUIT WORRYING.

Take the trip and if you have not quit worrying by the end of the second day, turn around and go back home and sell the bike 'cause it ain't for you. Motorcycle traveling is about freedom. Freedom from stress, freedom from worry, and freedom from everything that bothers you when you are not riding.

Enjoy the ride. It will make you a new man.

yep, I second that.

to ride is to be with ones self, on another plane, totally relaxing, just you & the road, stress relief, & nothing relaxes me more, hands down, NOTHING!

there is a biker saying, for those who understand, no explination is necessary, for those who dont understand, no explination is possible.

the point is, it is about the ride, enjoying yourself, thats it, not worrying about anything, just go enjoy the open road, & have fun!

go pack, plan for emergencies, & hope for none, & trust in your ride, most of the time they wont let you down. NOW GO ENJOY YOUR ADVENTURE & YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
