The main thing is to find out if your power goes where you THINK it goes. The switches may look the same but may not be, AND don't forget about the grounds (without a ground you can't complete the circuit). Trace the wires (using continuity and color) to where they go now and make sure that that's where you want them to go.
Mark thank you for any bit helps if it gets me back on the road. My question is there a sub harness for the road glide I need to get or can I make the harness work that I have for key switch and hand controlls aka (starter button)? Im kinda lost cuz some people are telling me yes and some are saying no please I'll take all help I can

I did the same conversion but to streetglide. You must have the three wires mixed up, because you don't have to change anything else to start bike. I can look for the schematic I made but not till tomorrow when I get home.

You can make whatever you have work. You could buy a harness BUT you can basically make your own (that's what I did).

Think I did, I had to order road king hand controlls because I had the road glide controlls that would only plug into the glide harness inside the farring and I couldn't get them to work with out blowing fuse's When I got the bike it didnt have any controlls so I got the road glide one thinking it would work. Guess I was wrong there but hopefully soon be back on the road happy!!!
Thank you for all the help everyone!!!

Too bad you didn't speak up sooner about the controls. I have a full set (switches) from my wifes '07 RK Custom I could have sold you for a good price. I switched her's out when I put cruise on it.
