Hi looking for a bit of help with my 04 road king I pick up all the body work from a 06 road glide got it all mounted on bike but I cant get power to the bike can someone please help me get back on the road I seen it done on the bike and looks great just cant get it wired up dose anyone know how or where to lead me????
What my problem is from road king the wires stop right under tank for ingintion and now the key switch is mounted on upper fork tree. What I need is a way to wire up key switch and controlls for radio and everything. I have seen it done but dont know how it was done. I trying to see if I can get a wire diagram of somebody who has done it. The wire dirgram from the book anit helping me at all.............. I jsut wanna ride lol
You could go to the fuse panel and check for an unused fuse. Run a "healthy" (through an in line fuse to the front and run everything with that. I did that on my Roadglide conversion. Most everything up there doesn't use much juice (gauge lamps, radio, etc.). I ran the wire to a terminal buss and used that as my power source.
Mark,
what my problems is turning the bike on I have no power to key switch. I took the 3 main wires from old key switch put them to new switch on fork brace and I have nothing at all. Taken a volt meter to some of the wires its showing power but I have nothing at all??? you wouldnt happen to have a few pics of how you did it would you??
Here is my suggestion (take it or not). Obviously you have a meter, make sure that the power source is on the wiper then disconnect the battery. Use the ohm meter part of your meter to find where the wafer outputs go (also making sure that the switch is good). Believe me electric stuff is not that difficult, it is a point to point thing. The main thing is to find out if your power goes where you THINK it goes. The switches may look the same but may not be, AND don't forget about the grounds (without a ground you can't complete the circuit). Trace the wires (using continuity and color) to where they go now and make sure that that's where you want them to go.
