Default Bad buffetting

For all that think buffetting behind a batwing is bad...I test rode a Victory yesterday (dealer is HD/Polaris dealer) and holy cow!

The bike was the one that looks like a street glide,,sorry dont know the model,,,and although it was comfortable to ride and had gobbs of power the buffeting it created made it completely unrideable above 60mph! It would shake my glasses so viloently I couldnt make out the numbers on speedo/tach

Yup. Thats the one, fairing with bags and no tour pack...It really sucks because it seemed to be well built and handeled great with tons of power for stock bike. Was fun to corner with and felt stable all around but the buffet on that thing was unbareable!

Just like a new Street Glide with the short windshield I guess.

I put a smaller windshield on my ultra and the highway Buffett was horrible, went back to stock. I'm surprised Victory had this issue. I considered buying one but with HD.

And the thing is, Victory doesn't have the aftermarket support that Harley has in terms of windshields, deflectors, etc. You might just have to live with the buffeting on the Victory. I'm surprised, also. You think they would have a handle on it since they started from scratch.

I briefly had the short window on my bike as well, felt great around town, sucked on the highway. Went back to stock. Not sure why any manufacturer still puts things like that on bikes. They have had to test them and have the same feelings at highway speed that you did.

I know a couple guys with Victorys with that bar mounted fairing and they both have after market shields and the buffeting is very minimal at high speeds. Check out Cee Bailey or Klock Werks.

It's all about the height of the windshield. I test road a Cross Country that had a tall windshield that I had to look through and I could have lite a cigarette with a bic lighter at 70 mph.

Sorry - can you explain buffeting? Is it a sound or a feeling in the bars themselves? And only on the highway at say 60 mph+?

THANKS!
