Good to know there are so many options out there. I could decide on something similar in the future if wifey and I get into a pattern of longer range touring.

Brick, do you have a part # on the fairing you put on your RK, I'm thinking of doing the same myself?

I myself have been curious about this for some time. What all parts do you need to come up with for this?

I built one using HD parts. The concept in its basic form is this:

- Use a standard RK windshild as your starting point.
- Get a stock inner and outer fairing which you will eventually "sandwich" around the stock windshield.
- Get our your hack saw, Dremel and sanders and start cutting a sanding the shellsto fit.
- It takes a bit of work to get everything to fit, but it does work. And you can't be shy to cutting up the parts for fitment.
-Since in the end you have "sandwiched" the stock RK windshield you can not "change" the windshields however. The only negitive I can think of.

In the end you have a fully detachable fairing with the stock Harley look. I chose to go with no guages, and have an amp set up for my iPod.

Which fairing kit did you go with and part#....too bad you didnt do a how to pic thread, using the original windshield is inovative to say the least.
Still wondering which Harley Fairing would fit from the MoCo for price, form, fit comparison.

For my deal there is no "kit" from Harley. I picked up parts off Craigslist and basically chop shopped my own fairing. I just used standard '06 inner and outer fairings and did a lot of trimming and sanding.

Tucci, if you need some additional photos descriptsion of what I did feel free to PM me. I have posted this in the past and haven't had much interest, as it is a project that many don't want to undertake. But for about $300 to $400 (not including paint) in parts I have the best looking detachable out there. Most stock looking anyway.

Can you post a few pics or a link to the thread where you described your build?
