To elaborate on these words of "wisdom"; check your fuse panel or owners manual to see what the circuit is rated for. You don't want to exceed the rated amperage for the accessory or accessories hookep up, or it will blow the fuse.
On my ultra classic I have a Zeppelin Air Ride seat and the power to the compressor is hooked up to my switch. I also have the LED lights that go in the guards around the bags and that was hooked up to the switch when I first the bike (freakin dealers). I rewired the LED's to go on with the parking lights as I do not want my compressor running constantly when riding at night.

Anything 12 volt, 15 amps or less that needs a switch to turn off/on!
