Mine acc. plug was jammed underneath the rear of the gas tank when bike was new and took some time to locate as it was completely hidden. Depending on the accessory, once plugged in, it may or may not be powered from the acc switch on the dash. Has to do with the config of the pins and which ones the accessory uses. I've plugged in accessories that are switched via ignition switch regardless of the position of the acc switch. and others that require the acc switch on. when looking at the plugs attached to the accessories, can see not all of the 4-pins are in use.
According to the 2012 service manual on a RKc the Accessory connector #4 is wire with an Orange/Red wire (controlled bt the ingnition switch)in position #1 - a Red/yellow wire (controlled by the brake relay) in position #2 - an Orange wire (controled by the accessory switch) in position #3 and a Black wire (ground) in the 4th position.

Yup - good information for anyone wiring their own accessory to use the plug. #4 always, whichever of the other 3 will determine when the accessory is "live"
I just wanted to say how GREAT HD Forums is. I'm adding accessory lights to my SG and was not too sure how to access the wiring from the Dash Panel accessory button. I knew someone out there in HD-F would have the answer and viola!! There hit was. Every time I want to tweak with my StreetGlide, someone out there has the knowledge of just how to do it. I enjoy turning my own wrenches and you guys take the guesswork out of most of my projects. Thank you for being willing to share your knowledge with others. Gary

So just curious I’m looking to power my speakers and found this thread very useful. I purchased The splitter mentioned above for the black acc connector that is in front of the battery with the thought of cutting one of the connectors off and making it a pigtail for the power supply for the amp with my speakers not realizing it is a four wire not two. So I’m torn now is there a pigtail I can buy plug into one of the female ends or is it ok to go ahead with my original plan. Just solder two wires and leave the connector or cap the other two wires? Looking for suggestions. 12 RK in need of tunes ! Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Glad an old thread was useful to you.
You can set up one of the male connectors for the accessory plug. If you want to use the ignition/acc switch on the bike you can use the wiring as in my pic on the top. If you want to use only the ACC switch located on the nacelle on the bike, move the red (positive) wire to the bottom left plug. The wiring diagram shows the placement of the wires on the ACC plug under the seat but the wire colors are different on your bike. This is how I wired a USB power plug on my 13 King for my GPS and phone and snaked the wires under the tank to my bars.
