Rode it last August on the 900 Vulcan. Had a cager on my ***, pulled over to let past and truck stopped to let me back in, and had my back the rest of the way. Was only planning on one day but ending going back for more. Don,t rember the rode but went through a state park and a black bear was crossing the road. That was more a scare than the tail. Now have the UC and will go back after more riding time on it. Don't forget to look for your picture on the net.
I'd stear clear of the dragon at night. When i went there my buddy and i hit it twice at night, it's a whole other monster at 10 pm! And the biggest pain for me was other riders crossing the line coming at me. I was on a stretched ninja zx12r and was just crusin but some of those guys ride it like it's a closed course track. Pretty much almost everywhere in that area is beautiful, and you should have a blast. Oh and you wont have a cell signal anywhere on it!
Respect the dragon or it will get you. There's a section called "gravity cavity" that will bite your *** if your pushing your limits on a sportbike, much less a big cruiser.

If you are traveling and heading North from the Dragon, off Route 81 in Harrisonburg Virginia US 33 west heads into West Virginia. Hang on for some of the best riding and views, we found it last year while at the Rolling Thunder visit on Memorial Day weekend.
One of my favorite areas to ride....the Dragon is fun, ride your ride....
The skyway is the best, towards the end watch for a right turn to Bald River Falls, great photo area at the falls...worth the side trip.
Great little restruants in Tellico Plane....
smokey Mtn Parkway is good too.
Maggie Valley is nice, Wheels thru Time is a must see.....
Traffic in Pigion Forge and Gattlinburg is a mess all the time..just take your time.
The Apple Wood restruant in Pigion Forge is fantastic!
The store at Deals Gap has the necessary t shirts and stickers....got to have one, they serve a great burger too.....
Have fun, take plenty of pictures.....post a few when you get back ....
check out americaridesmaps.com , Tons of great riding and lots of great roads less traveled than the dragon. the hellbender, 28 south i believe, lots of twisties w very little traffic. Be safe
