Well.. Dumped a fair amount of money over the past couple weeks on repainting the rear fender, new hard bags and side covers for my wife's '02 RK. Also installed the Hydraulic Cam Upgrade plate and ordered her a C&C Solo with a Riders Backrest.
Bike looks fantastic now but the 3/4" reach the C&C seat was supposed to add seems more like 2". Makes it a hell of alot more comfortable to me! and the backrest is super comfortable. I've already got my own though!
Could send the seat back I suppose and pay to have it re-worked. But the stock bars have that "wheelbarrow" feel to them.
Any other bars that are reasonably priced that will work without buying all new cables? Or just send the seat back to get the +2?
I'd give the "Heritage for Road King" bars a try if it were me. Cost roughly $79 at your local dealer, and most stock these bars as they are probably the #1 RK replacement bar. They have a grip angle that works best if the bars are angled back slightly, which reduces height and reach. These are also the factory bars for FL Police bikes. These should bolt right on and use the stock cables and hoses.
Anyone have the part number for these bars? I have a pretty good feeling the parts guys are going to look at me with a dazed and confused look when I ask for them..... IF it's not in the book they'll never find it
I have a 2010 FLHP "Police" RK - I took the stock bars off - they did not come back far enough for me - but as claimed by 68 Shovelking those are not the Heritage bars you want, unless he is referring to the older models - that could be a possibility but I am not 100%. When I was looking to replace those OEM bars on the FLHP the Heritage bars they are suggesting were an option, which means that the bars I had could not have been those.
That's the problem Hogpro.. Just got the seat from C&C. It would need to be sent back and redone. Trying bars first. After installing the PYO bars on mine this should be like taking candy from a baby.
+1 on Heritage Bars - common swap, done every day. After a few rides, tilt them to your liking, be sure they remain clear of the tank lock to lock. Level out the controls by the grips when you are done. Sweet!
