Default Two different reduced reach seats?

Hey, while browsing the online Harley parts catalog for seat options, I saw there are two different "Reduced Reach" seats:

52619-08A
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

54383-11
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

There's also a third, the "Super Reduced Reach", but that one is way too reduced for me.

Does anyone know how these are different?

The first seems to not push the rider forward quite as much as the second - but I can't tell for sure. It also looks like it might be a bit more comfy.

Both look better for a passenger than the stock Street Glide seat.

I'm 5'8"-5'9" (thereabouts) with a 31" inseam. I wouldn't mind being an inch more forward than the stock seat. And I'd certainly appreciate a narrower area near the tank. I think with a narrow front area, the stock height is fine.

I can only tell you that I put on the "Super Reduced Reach" and it was like sitting in a V, pushed my ********* up in my stomach and I had less foot contact than with the stock seat.

I bought a second take off seat from a guy on the forum and had it sent to Mean City Cycles. Going to have the "Super Narrow" mod done. Drop my ride height about 1.5" and narrow the sides so I can stand flat footed.

Reading through Harleys descriptions, about the only diff I see is how much closer each seat moves you to the tank.

52619-08A - I think this seat lowers the rider but doesn't push you forward

54383-11 - pushes the rider forward like the Super Reduced Reach seat but but doesn't lower the rider as much

I recently bought a reduced reach seat from Craigslist.
I just looked at it but could not find a part number.

I belive it is this one based on looks -

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I am about 5', 9" with about a 30 inch inseam (damn, I'm getting shorter).

I bought the reduced reach seat for a two-up seat as I did not like the stock seat for myself.
I find the reduced reach seat is roughly the same height as my Mustang Solo with built-in backrest. I believe the reduced reach seat is narrower through the thigh area and I feel like I can flat-foot better with the reduced reach seat. I like the lower back support of the reduced reach seat - it is sort of like a bucket seat. I also find that this reduced reach seat moved me forward a bit. I like that feature from the stand-point of the handlebars, and not so much for the feet. I feel like I could use some hiway pegs now to stretch out a bit.

What I don't like is the way the passenger seat looks so high compared to the drivers portion. Since I'm not ridding two-up soon, the solo is back on the bike.

Below is a picture of my bike with the Mustang solo seat.

Best of luck in your search!

The super reach is forward more and lower.

Reduced Reach = 1" lower* and 2.5" forward.

Super Reduced Reach = 2" lower* and 2.5" forward.

Really like my reach seat.

ok i think these HD reduced reach seats are what like $250 to $350 ?

Why don't you call Mean City Cycle and tell them what you need they will MOD your stock seat just right way cheaper than a new seat .
i had them MOD my stock FLHRC seat . lower narrower memory foam
total cost including shipping both ways just under $150

I have a 06 EG, i bought the reach touring seat, part number 52544-05A, i've had it for 2 years now and its held up pretty good, however, the seat pan is weak, when pulling it on and off the nose of the seat will bend up pretty easy, also when i sit on it i can feel and see the seat pan giving and the nose of the seat raising up. I can feel what seems to be the frame rails slightly or maybe just a little harder around the side of the seat, my riding partner says she cant seem to get comfortable for long rides, her *** cheeks go numb. I have ordered but not received yet a set of adjustable passenger floor boards that has a flip up peg so she can move her legs around more and maybe see if that helps her on longer rides. The seat did lower me about 2 inches and forward about 2 inches, the seat is ok for me, but i dont think its really worth the money, if i had it to do over again i would do like baust55 did. Just for comparison im 5ft 5, 30 in inseam and 190lbs, my riding partner is 5ft 3in, 27in inseam and 140 lbs. Good luck in what you decide. just my 2cents worth.

Stickman81, I was also looking into the Mustang Vintage Solo (plus passenger seat). Would you say that it brings you forward and/or has a narrower nose than the stock seat? Other than the fact it's a solo, do you like the Mustang Solo to be better than the stock seat? (I couldn't tell if you were comparing the Reach to the stock seat, or to the Mustang.)

I thought of that. But my main concern is getting a more comfy seat for my girlfriend as we are planning a long, 2-week trip in a couple months. I wouldn't think anyone could make the stock rear into a comfortable, long-haul seat.

Greg,

I had the stock seat on for one ride (about 50 miles). I did not care for it. In my opinion, the Mustang seat is a bit narrower. I don't remember exactly. IMO, the Mustang solo is not "comfy". I had it on for about 130 miles today. I get a bit of butt burn from a couple of high spots in the seat. The seat came on the bike and was probably on there for several thousand miles and is likely broken-in to the previous owner. I prefer the Mustang solo over the stock seat by far. I am considering sending the Mustang solo to Mean City Cycles and having it modified. IMO, it is still a bit too wide in the nose area, and I would rather have it a bit softer.

Later in the day today, I put the reduced reach seat on and did about fifty miles or so two-up. I am noticably lower on the reduced reach seat than on the Mustang solo, and, have a softer seat. The reduced reach seat does move me forward. I like that from a comfort stand point for the handlebars, but have to adjust my feet on the floorboards. The reduced reach seat purchase for me was from a price standpoint for a two-up seat. I got it very slightly used from Craigslist at a nice price.

I too thought about adding the passenger seat for the Mustang solo, and may still do this later.

Tomorrow or Monday, I will try to get the stock seat on the bike and give you a more recent opinionated report.
