All the support from you guys /girls? are much appreciated. Another thing that pisses me off bout this is the cops had my bike towed when it was only Bout 100yds from my property, $350 gone for no reason, I already had a couple buddies lined up to help me push it home in the AM
They obviously had themselves convinced they were dragging me out in cuffs for dwi for no reason but they stereotyped me. as being drunk because they found a wrecked HD. The bike was off the road in a safe legal spot. I'm thinking of taking them to small claims court to try to get my dough back.
since life has thrown you lemons right now,,go get some tequila and salt and sit down and make post on here when you get the drinks and we'll be right over to lend a hand!!!
The spring didn't fail so much as it just came unhooked. I've been on HD's since 88 and chopsticks b4 that and never seen it happen to mine or any friends bikes either.
Unless modified there's no way a spring should be broken or become disconnected on these motorcycles. That sounds like it could almost qualify for a liability against the manufacturer.
I stopped in the middle of no where to take a break a few weeks ago and when I went to leave the kickstand spring had come undone. That becomes an interesting problem with no centerstand and nobody to hold the bike up while you try to fix it. Luckily I had a miny bungee cord that I hooked to my shift linkage.
Sorry to hear. Especially sucks with the nice weather around the corner. Glad that you're ok and the bike sounds like it made it through pretty well also.
