My 17 year old son is taking the MSF course this summer and will be getting my old Ninja 250. I told him that once he is confident enough and his skills are adequate he can move up the food chain of bikes. He really wants a 48, but he can use the Ninja for a trade in, but he is paying for it and the increase it will make to the insurance. He is already saving his cash from his Pizza Ranch job.

Went with the SB. Weighed all the options and decided that with the ad ons he was talking about and the places he wanted to ride it was the best choice. Turned out it was his first choice but out of respect for us he felt it was to much so he wouldn't bring it up. He is also taking the riders edge course.

All I can say is WOW........ It's none of our business WHY he has decided to buy his kid a bike at this time whatever his age is.

I would go buy my dad or kid a bike in a minute if I had the means to do so.....

Can't put a cost on the memories that will come of such a gift....
